The predecessor to the Beechcraft 1900D was the Beechcraft 1900C. The 1900D was introduced by Beechcraft in 1991. The most notable difference from the 1900C version was a redesigned passenger cabin which was big enough to allow passengers to walk upright, something that was not possible in the previous versions.
As a result of the larger cabin area which added weight and drag to the aircraft, other modifications were also required in order to maintain performance standards. Beechcraft introduced high powered engines and modified propellers. They also added winglets to the wings in an effort to reduce the amount of drag and to improve the wing’s efficiency.
The aircraft’s tail was also made larger as a result of the more powerful engine. Another change was the addition of an updated Electronic Flight Instrument System to the cockpit of the 1900D.
